Terms of Sale and Use

These Terms govern your use of Purlgrid at purlgrid.com and your use of Purlgrid patterns. Purlgrid is operated by Hugo Software Ltd. By using the site or downloading a pattern you agree to these Terms.
1. What we offer
Purlgrid offers original knitting and crochet patterns as downloadable PDF files (digital content). A pattern is a set of instructions and charts; it is not a finished item and no physical goods are shipped. Each PDF is provided in A4 and US Letter format.
2. Free downloads and prices
- During our launch period, patterns on purlgrid.com are free to download. No sign-up and no payment details are needed.
- If we start charging for some patterns, the price will be shown on the site in US dollars before you buy, each pattern will be a one-time purchase (no subscription), and payment will be processed by Stripe — we never see or store card details. Patterns you downloaded for free stay free for you.
3. Delivery
When you download a pattern you receive download links, a licence code (format BNJ-XXXXXXXX) and the pattern code for the 3D viewer. Download links are valid for 24 hours. Keep your licence code: at purlgrid.com/library.html it re-opens your patterns on any device and issues fresh links. There are no user accounts.
4. Paid purchases: right of withdrawal and refunds
- For paid patterns, because the download is available immediately, at checkout you agree that delivery of the digital content starts immediately and that you therefore lose the 14-day right of withdrawal that applies to distance purchases of digital content in the UK and EU.
- We will still put things right: if a file is corrupt or not what was described, if you were charged twice, or if a payment went through but you received nothing, email [email protected] with your licence code and we will send a working file or refund you.
- Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
5. Licence to use a pattern
Whether free or paid, you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use each pattern:
- You may print it for your own use and make items from it.
- You may sell items you make by hand from a pattern in small quantities. Please credit Purlgrid as the designer.
- You may not share, copy, upload, resell or give away the PDF or its charts, in whole or in part, or use them to create a competing pattern. Please send friends to purlgrid.com instead.
The charts, text, images and 3D previews are © Hugo Software Ltd. Traditional motifs such as hearts, snowflakes, stars and reindeer belong to no one; the specific charts in our patterns are our original designs.
6. Pattern accuracy
Every stitch count in our patterns is checked by our pattern engine before a PDF is made. Knitting and crochet results still depend on your yarn, tools and gauge (tension). Yarn amounts are estimates. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct the pattern; corrected versions are available from your library.
7. Images
Product images show how an item made from the pattern can look. Your result depends on your yarn, colours and gauge. The charts and written instructions in the PDF define the design.
8. The 3D viewer
The free 3D viewer runs in your browser. The pattern code printed in your PDF unlocks its round-by-round mode for that pattern. The viewer is provided as is and may change.
9. Marketplaces
Patterns obtained on Etsy, Ravelry or other marketplaces are subject to that marketplace's terms; the licence in clause 5 also applies to them.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hugo Software Ltd. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including the cost of yarn or materials. For a paid pattern, our total liability is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. The version that applies to a download or purchase is the one published at that time.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
